SUMMARY:Webinar Series: Energy and our Changing Climate
DESCRIPTION:The Idaho Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment is a nonpartisan\, science-based resource to help Idaho business leaders and policymakers plan for a resilient Idaho economy. All assessment content is available online at the website www.uidaho.edu/iceia. \nThe Idaho Conservation League is hosting a 4 part deep dive series into four areas related to their climate campaign work: water\, health\, energy and agriculture.  \nEnergy is both a cause of and solution to our changing climate\, according to the recent Idaho Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment from the McClure Center at University of Idaho. Join us in a discussion of the risks and opportunities in Idaho’s energy sector as part three of ICL’s four-part series about this landmark report. Amber Bieg from Warm Springs Consulting and ICL’s own Ben Otto\, will discuss how climate change is affecting the hydrosystem\, how economic and environmental forces are causing utilities to reduce the fossil-fuels we import from other states\, and Idaho’s opportunity to use the energy sources within our borders to secure a clean\, reliable\, and affordable future for Idaho. We look forward to your questions as well.

SUMMARY:ICL Webinar Series: What's in the Magic Valley's groundwater?
DESCRIPTION:Over 300\,000 residents of southern Idaho rely on groundwater from the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer for their drinking water. A recent report by ICL looked at the quality of groundwater across the Magic Valley and found that in many areas\, there are unacceptably high levels of nitrate and phosphorus in drinking water. High nitrate is linked to health conditions such as Blue Baby Syndrome and elevated cancer risk in adults and elevated phosphorus concentrations exacerbate ongoing water quality issues in the Snake River\, such as harmful algal outbreaks.\n\n\nJoin us at this webinar to learn about what’s in your drinking water and how we are working to address these contamination issues. Hear from ICL’s Conservation Associate\, Josh Johnson\, as he provides an overview of the latest report and what it means for you.\n\n\nThis webinar occurs at 6:30 PM MTN

DESCRIPTION:A clean\, healthy\, and safe Snake River benefits all of us. Join ICL for a webinar panel discussion with our partners from the Clif Bar Bakery in Twin Falls\, Idaho Power\, and the Twin Falls Canal Company to hear about water quality in the Magic Valley. Our long-term goal is to make the Snake River across southern Idaho safe\, fishable and swimmable again. Water quality in the Snake River and the aquifer affects everyone in the Magic Valley and we all share a responsibility to address the issue. Our vision will likely require a large state-federal cleanup plan akin to restoration efforts in the Great Lakes and Chesapeake Bay. \nRegister for this webinar here.
