This is a citizen-science initiative led by dedicated community volunteers\, known as water quality stewards. The program’s goals are to inform the public and provide high-quality scientific data that regulatory agencies can use when making water quality-based decisions for our local waterways. Monitoring occurs once a month from May through September. Volunteers must be able to access their monitoring location by some form of watercraft (kayak\, canoe\, etc.). \nTo participate in this program\, volunteers are required to attend a training on either May 1st or May 8th from 5:30-7:30 pm PT. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Earth Day\, ICL is partnering with the City of Sandpoint to host a clean up of City Beach\, lower Sand Creek\, and the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail! Join us at the City Beach pavilion and let’s clear our shorelines and waterways of trash\, in preparation for summer.  \nBags and gloves will be provided\, as well as snacks and warm refreshments from Evans Brothers. This is a great volunteer opportunity for families\, groups\, and businesses. Registration is not required but is encouraged to help us with our planning.  \nVolunteer check-in will begin at 9:30 am. At 10:00\, we will share a few words and the clean up will begin.  \nWe hope to see you there!

John Robison\, Idaho Conservation League’s public lands director\, will provide an overview of the Owyhee Canyonlands\, describe the character of different river stretches\, and offer logistics advice for planning your own adventures. John will also describe the Owyhee Initiative’s collaborative approach to crafting these protections.
