SUMMARY:Paddling the Owyhee
DESCRIPTION:Over 300 miles of rivers in the Owyhee Canyonlands are protected under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Protected river sections include the famous Jarbidge\, Bruneau and Owyhee rivers. \nThe best way to celebrate the Owyhee Canyonlands is to float one of the Wild and Scenic Rivers! The second best way to celebrate is to join us at this upcoming event. John Robison\, Idaho Conservation League’s public lands director\, will provide an overview of the Owyhee Canyonlands\, describe the character of different river stretches\, and offer logistics advice for planning your own adventures. John will also describe the Owyhee Initiative’s collaborative approach to crafting these protections.

SUMMARY:Webinar Series: Energy and our Changing Climate
DESCRIPTION:The Idaho Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment is a nonpartisan\, science-based resource to help Idaho business leaders and policymakers plan for a resilient Idaho economy. All assessment content is available online at the website www.uidaho.edu/iceia. \nThe Idaho Conservation League is hosting a 4 part deep dive series into four areas related to their climate campaign work: water\, health\, energy and agriculture.  \nEnergy is both a cause of and solution to our changing climate\, according to the recent Idaho Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment from the McClure Center at University of Idaho. Join us in a discussion of the risks and opportunities in Idaho’s energy sector as part three of ICL’s four-part series about this landmark report. Amber Bieg from Warm Springs Consulting and ICL’s own Ben Otto\, will discuss how climate change is affecting the hydrosystem\, how economic and environmental forces are causing utilities to reduce the fossil-fuels we import from other states\, and Idaho’s opportunity to use the energy sources within our borders to secure a clean\, reliable\, and affordable future for Idaho. We look forward to your questions as well.

SUMMARY:Vigil for Idaho's Salmon (Boise) - 30 Year Anniversary of Endangered Species Listing
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Capitol and raise your voice for Idaho’s salmon!\n\nNovember 20\, 2021\, marks the 30 year anniversary since the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes successfully petitioned to have Snake River sockeye salmon listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. Yet\, in 2021\, only 4 natural adult sockeye completed the migration to Idaho waters. The extinction clock is ticking – salmon can’t wait! Vigils and gatherings will be held all over the Northwest for endangered Snake River salmon. Let’s hold decision-makers accountable for developing a salmon recovery plan that restores a free-flowing lower Snake River.\n\nMasks and social distancing required during the event.

SUMMARY:Vigil for Idaho's Salmon (Ketchum) - 30 Year Anniversary of Endangered Species Listing
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Ketchum Town Square in Ketchum\, ID and raise your voice for Idaho’s salmon!\n\nNovember 20\, 2021\, marks the 30 year anniversary since the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes successfully petitioned to have Snake River sockeye salmon listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. Yet\, in 2021\, only 4 natural adult sockeye completed the migration to Idaho waters. The extinction clock is ticking – salmon can’t wait! Vigils and gatherings will be held all over the Northwest for endangered Snake River salmon. Let’s hold decision-makers accountable for developing a salmon recovery plan that restores a free-flowing lower Snake River.\n\nMasks and social distancing are required during the event.

SUMMARY:ICL Webinar Series: What's in the Magic Valley's groundwater?
DESCRIPTION:Over 300\,000 residents of southern Idaho rely on groundwater from the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer for their drinking water. A recent report by ICL looked at the quality of groundwater across the Magic Valley and found that in many areas\, there are unacceptably high levels of nitrate and phosphorus in drinking water. High nitrate is linked to health conditions such as Blue Baby Syndrome and elevated cancer risk in adults and elevated phosphorus concentrations exacerbate ongoing water quality issues in the Snake River\, such as harmful algal outbreaks.\n\n\nJoin us at this webinar to learn about what’s in your drinking water and how we are working to address these contamination issues. Hear from ICL’s Conservation Associate\, Josh Johnson\, as he provides an overview of the latest report and what it means for you.\n\n\nThis webinar occurs at 6:30 PM MTN

SUMMARY:Rally For The River - Boise Flotilla 2021
DESCRIPTION:  \nSalmon advocates across the Northwest are uniting across the region to show their support for salmon and urge NW leaders to breach the four lower Snake River dams. This year\, supporters will be joining flotillas rallies on rivers throughout Oregon\, Washington\, and Idaho. Flotillas have been used for decades as a way to protest the Snake River dams that have placed wild salmon on a path to extinction. \nJoin us for a float down the Boise River on August 7th at 12pm to stand up for salmon. We will be launching our boats and floaties at Barber Park at noon. Arrive beforehand with plenty of water\, sun protection\, and your personal floating supplies. There will be a limited supply of life vests and float equipment available for rent. Shuttle services will be available every hour from Ann Morrison Park to Barber Park. Thank you to Maravia for providing rafts and life jackets. \nIf you’re not interested in floating\, feel free to join on your bicycle or walk the greenbelt instead!  \nSign up through ICL’s registration form to reserve your spot! \nThe float will take approximately two hours\, and we’ll be meeting in Ann Morrison after for food\, drinks\, and advocacy opportunities. A huge shout out to Lost Grove Brewing and 10 Barrel Brewing for supplying food and beverages.  \nGet in touch with ICL’s Salmon Campaign Project Manager\, Abbie Abramovich for more information or visit our FaceBook event to learn more.

SUMMARY:Red Road to DC - A Totem Pole Journey
DESCRIPTION:The House of Tears Carvers cordially invite you to our visit and blessing ceremony at Shoshone Falls Overlook on the Snake River in Twin Falls\, ID from 4:00-5:00 pm MDT on July 1.\n\nShoshone Falls are named for the Lemhi Shoshone or Agaidika (“Salmon eaters”) people. The Shoshone\, Bannock and Paiute peoples depended on the Snake River’s immense salmon runs as their primary food source. Before dams on the Snake River blocked the migration of salmon from the Pacific Ocean\, the falls were the upstream limit of salmon migration in the Snake River – 647 miles from the mouth of the Columbia River.\n\nPlease join us as we continue our journey to draw attention and action to sacred places and Indigenous rights. Idaho Rivers United\, Idaho Conservation League\, Idaho Chapter of the Sierra Club\, Trout Unlimited and the upper Snake River Salmon People are co-hosting this event. Please note that a $5 park entrance fee will be charged to each vehicle entering the Park.\n\nThis summer\, the House of Tears Carvers of the Lummi Nation are transporting a 24-foot totem pole they carved from Washington State to Washington D.C. As this pole travels it draws lines of connection–honoring\, uniting and empowering communities working to protect sacred places. It carries the spirit of the lands it visits and the power and prayers of communities along the way. \n\nFor more information and event itinerary\, please visit the Facebook page.
