SUMMARY:Paddling the Owyhees - Boise\, ID
DESCRIPTION:Over 300 miles of rivers in the Owyhee Canyonlands are protected under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Protected river sections include the famous Jarbidge\, Bruneau and Owyhee rivers. \nThe best way to celebrate the Owyhee Canyonlands is to float one of the Wild and Scenic Rivers! The second best way to celebrate is to join us at this upcoming event. John Robison\, Idaho Conservation League’s public lands and wildlife director\, will provide an overview of the Owyhee Canyonlands\, describe the character of different river stretches\, and offer logistics advice for planning your own adventures. John will also describe the Owyhee Initiative’s collaborative approach to crafting these protections. \nGet ready for paddling season! Bring a camp chair\, your favorite river stories\, and join us at Idaho Rivers Sports for this annual event.

SUMMARY:Shoofly Oolite Guided Hike - Boise\, ID
DESCRIPTION:Join Idaho Conservation League’s Public Lands Director\, John Robison\, for a hike in the Owyhees. \nThe Shoofly Oolite is a unique limestone rock outcrop near Grand View that features cliffs\, caves\, fossils and rare plants. The outcrop is a remnant of ancient Lake Idaho. The round trip hike is just under two miles. \nLearn more about this special corner of Idaho and how to enjoy it while protecting the rare plants that live there. Nearby limestone deposits have been mined so the BLM is considering protecting this special area from future mining. The BLM is taking public comments until Nov. 4 on a proposal to protect this place for the next 50 years. By visiting the site\, you will have a unique perspective on this area and how you might want to see it managed. \nHikers will meet at Albertons to drive to the Owyhees together. REGISTER HERE!

SUMMARY:Doyle Mountain Guided Hike - Boise\, ID
DESCRIPTION:Join Idaho Conservation League’s Public Lands Director\, John Robison\, for a hike up a gorgeous\, lesser-known peak in the Owyhees. \nREGISTER HERE \nDoyle Mountain is a wonderful\, 6\,161’ tall\, non-technical peak with impressive 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks and undeveloped valleys with intact sagebrush steppe habitat. The hike to the summit from the upper parking area has a net 1\,000’ elevation gain. Hikers will meet in Boise at the Albertsons on 6560 South Federal Way to make the trip to the Owyhees region together. \nWhy join? ICL’s very own Public Lands Director will be guiding this hike\, sharing the ways your travel on these trails can help ICL’s advocacy! \nThe BLM will be taking public comments in the coming months on which trails to designate as motorized and non-motorized in this area. The Doyle Mountain trail sections you will be hiking would make excellent non-motorized trails. There is already a vast network of motorized trails surrounding the area. Together\, we can ground-truth the trails and provide our recommendations to the BLM.

UP provides trash bags and a roll-off dumpster will be available for depositing your finds. \nIf you have any questions about the event you can reach out to Randy Fox with the Idaho Conservation League at rfox@idahoconservation.org.
