SUMMARY:Vineyard Lake Cleanup - Jerome\, ID
DESCRIPTION:Join ICL for a cleanup day at Vineyard Lake in the Snake River Canyon! As hidden as it is\, Vineyard Lake sees a lot of recreationists – and the land there is feeling the impact. ICL and volunteers will meet at the trailhead\, hike in together\, and pick up trash in the area. Following the cleanup\, we will eat lunch and hear from ICL’s Senior Conservation Associate\, Josh Johnson\, about the current state of the beloved Snake River. Space is limited\, so RSVP today to secure your spot! \nTrail condition: The trail begins on top of the canyon rim\, passing through protected private property that is managed as active pastureland with livestock. From there\, the path winds to the edge of the canyon before going down the canyon and over/around crumbled rocks. The 1.5-mile roundtrip hike takes about an hour and has a total elevation gain/drop of roughly 200 feet. A moderate level of physical fitness is required for this hike due to the nature of the terrain. \nWhat to bring: Lunch\, sun protection\, plenty of water\, sturdy hiking shoes. \nICL will provide: Snacks\, gloves and trash bags.

SUMMARY:Unearthing Idaho: Mining and Environmental Impacts in the Gem State - Ketchum\, ID
DESCRIPTION:Idaho has a long and colorful history of mining\, but too many of these mines have polluted streams and contaminated landscapes. According to the Environmental Protection Agency\, 40% of watersheds in the West are contaminated by mining activity. The Idaho Conservation League works to ensure that mining activities don’t threaten human health\, special places\, or Idaho’s clean water. \nJoin Idaho Conservation League’s Central Idaho Director\, Josh Johnson\, for an inventory of mining in Idaho: past\, present\, and future. Learn about the environmental impact of mining on air\, water\, habitat\, and public health\, as well as what Idaho Conservation League does to vet these projects and prevent or mitigate environmental consequences. \n

SUMMARY:Doyle Mountain Guided Hike - Boise\, ID
DESCRIPTION:Join Idaho Conservation League’s Public Lands Director\, John Robison\, for a hike up a gorgeous\, lesser-known peak in the Owyhees. \nREGISTER HERE \nDoyle Mountain is a wonderful\, 6\,161’ tall\, non-technical peak with impressive 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks and undeveloped valleys with intact sagebrush steppe habitat. The hike to the summit from the upper parking area has a net 1\,000’ elevation gain. Hikers will meet in Boise at the Albertsons on 6560 South Federal Way to make the trip to the Owyhees region together. \nWhy join? ICL’s very own Public Lands Director will be guiding this hike\, sharing the ways your travel on these trails can help ICL’s advocacy! \nThe BLM will be taking public comments in the coming months on which trails to designate as motorized and non-motorized in this area. The Doyle Mountain trail sections you will be hiking would make excellent non-motorized trails. There is already a vast network of motorized trails surrounding the area. Together\, we can ground-truth the trails and provide our recommendations to the BLM.

UP provides trash bags and a roll-off dumpster will be available for depositing your finds. \nIf you have any questions about the event you can reach out to Randy Fox with the Idaho Conservation League at rfox@idahoconservation.org.
