ICL has worked to protect and restore the clean air, clean water, wildlands, special places, fish, and wildlife that give Idahoans such an exceptional quality of life for over 50 years. In each and every of those years, we’ve relied on our members to make this work possible. Our accomplishments do not just fall on the shoulders of our staff—the work of staff relies on our conservation community, made up of dedicated members, advocates, and volunteers. Our members are at the core of our conservation mission, and are the heartbeat of our organization. In appreciation of these behind-the-scenes “Faces of ICL”, we showcase the stories of our members on a monthly basis, shining a spotlight on their unique contributions, experiences, and reasons for supporting conservation in Idaho.

I am Amanda Archibald (she/her/hers). I grew up in Hailey, Idaho but I currently live in Santa Monica, California. I am a Director of Marketing at Sony Pictures with a focus on international marketing for television series. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors – hiking, surfing, and watching as many sunsets as I can. I’m an avid art lover and a weekend treasure hunter, always on the lookout for antique and vintage home goods.

I was a water baby growing up – floating down rivers, wading through creeks, and diving (often too excited and fully clothed) into mountain lakes. These days, I occasionally come across beaches and rivers that are too unsafe or polluted to enjoy. I want my home state to stay as clean, wild, and accessible as it always has been. If I can play even a small part in keeping it that way, I am very happy to do so. I got involved with ICL because I wanted to dedicate energy and resources to non-profit organizations that were working on causes that were important to me, which included environmental initiatives in my home state of Idaho. ICL stood out as a trusted agency doing exactly this type of important work. ICL’s work to keep Idaho’s water clean and healthy for future generations is what speaks to me most. But they are also doing great work to protect the air, wildlife, and all the things that make Idaho beautiful, unique, and special.

I love that Idaho feels timeless. Everything is evolving at rapid pace, but when I go home, so many of the places I used to frequent, eat, and work are still there, exactly as they always were. It is familiar and nostalgic and delightfully slow-paced. I also have close friends and family in Idaho, including a nephew growing up there, and I hope it will be as grounding and magical for him as it always has been for me.

I am proud to have been a steady supporter of ICL for a few years now, and I hope that by being vocal about my love for wild Idaho and my support of ICL, I can encourage others to get involved, give, and advocate.

Now is the time to start with ICL! Donate, volunteer, or just learn more. The team there makes it easy to feel like you are a part of something meaningful—because you are.

Each of our members brings a unique perspective and a distinctive connection to our mission, creating a collective commitment to Idaho’s air, land, water and wildlife that is backed with a culture of caring. The diversity in why people support ICL is just as diverse as the landscapes and natural heritage of our great state. This diversity also reflects the huge breadth of issues ICL works on, and the collaborative and creative ways we work to get things done for our environment. Interested in sharing your ICL story?
